data released by the korea national statistical office show that in 2023, the area of cabbage cultivation in south korea's high-altitude cold regions will be less than half of what it was 20 years ago, from 8,796 hectares to 3,995 hectares. researchers believe that in addition to rising temperatures, unpredictable rainstorms and difficult-to-control pests are also the reasons for the decline in cabbage production. fungal infections that wilt plants are particularly troublesome for farmers because they can only be observed near harvest time.
